The design

At the onset of the OXE Diesel project, our mission was to design the world’s first high performance diesel outboard, built specifically for the commercial user. The idea was to combine inboard reliability and diesel torque with the flexibility and replaceability of an outboard unit.

From an early stage the keywords were endurance, reliability, power and control. These words became embedded in the development and thereby into the very being of the OXE Diesel. The result of this is apparent in the powerful and dependable design of the OXE Diesel engine series.OXE Diesel Modular Design

Combining a modular layout with proven technologies, such as the automotive engine, gearbox technology and the belt systems, has created an extremely durable product that is easy to work with both from a user's and mechanic's perspective.

The patented belt technology enabled the team to design a robust outboard unit that effectively and over a long lifespan transfers high torque from automotive or industrial engines to the propeller with minimal transfer loss.

Drawing from decades of experience within diesel engines and transmissions, the team aimed for quality and state-of-the-art design. This, together with leading Swedish manufacturers from the marine, automotive, commercial and aeronautical industry, resulted in the product we know today as the OXE Diesel.

The diesel engine on the OXE Diesel is mounted horizontally; the power is then transferred to the gearbox through a primary transmission. From the gearbox output a belt transfers the power to the propeller shaft.

The engine is mounted on the adapter plate with four robust anti-vibration mountings which allow the unit to endure punishing commercial use and be quickly and easily replaced when time for overhaul.

By using a modular design, the OXE Diesel is built from the ground up. Each module utilizes proven conventional technology, and together, they create a revolutionary product worthy of commercial users’ trust.

All parts are easy to access and can be replaced without having to disassemble the whole unit. Each part has its place.
